Over 4,000 foster youth in California are emancipated from the child welfare system each year and find themselves without proper support for their education. Approximately 250 of those youth are emancipated in the Sacramento area each year. The Foster Youth Education Fund is a non-profit organization created to generate and disburse education grants to emancipating foster youth in the four county Sacramento region. We believe that all children deserve to dream big and to have an opportunity to strive for those dreams through higher education.

The Annual Foster Youth Tea and Fashion Show is our main fund raising event and offers many opportunities to help emancipating foster youth realize their higher education dreams.

“Thank you for your time, support and willingness to help youth in my situation. It is a very difficult thing to face, but having support helps those of us who have goals to realize that our desires can be a reality and not just distant and untouchable dreams.

Dava, 2004 Foster Youth Education Grant Recipient
